Goodbye Forum!

Finally decided to get rid of that forum (and to update the rest of the site). I mean does anyone really use forums anymore? They are more of a cesspool of spam, and bots from the eastern block I discovered and it was just too much to control/maintain. Cool gif's though, and thanks to everyone who did participate in it. If you made a comment there I moved it to the blog, and future comments just go there too.

Thank you for visiting and supporting our campaign to bring an NHL hockey team to one of the best locations and fan bases for it, the great state of Wisconsin.

Make sure to check out all the areas of the site. We have plenty of ways you can get involved and give us your opinions, ideas, and suggestions. This site, and hopefully the future franchise, will be built with the fans getting a big voice.

Our goals right now are mainly focused on getting people interested in the idea and seeing how much support there would be for a franchise. But we are also here to build passion for one of the greatest sports ever through articles, raising support for youth camps and programs, and hopefully an NHL game in Wisconsin.

Last spring Puckdrawn had a competition where participants designed hockey uniforms for 6 cities in a fictional NHL expansion. Ryan Muraro (site) won in the final round of voting against the Hamilton Steelcats of Canada with his design of the Milwaukee Bocks and rightly so. Everything about this works, not too mention a mascot as a goat would rub in that "curse" a little more to our neighbors to the south. For those that don't know (and myself) bocks are sometimes represented by goats because Bavarians from Munich pronounced the town of Einbeck where it was developed as "ein Bock" or Billy Goat, probably was an insult as well.

Someone pointed out that the Milwaukee Bocks might be too confusing with the Milwaukee Bucks, even though it looks like it was supposed to be a pun anyway. I could see how it might lead to some misunderstandings. That would be the only strike against it, but it could still work if a team was put in Madison (Mad Bocks) or Green Bay. One could argue Madison produces as good, if not better beer than Milwaukee with Capital, Ale Asylum, microbrew the Great Dane, New Glarus right down the road as well.

Could you imagine a team in Madison? It wouldn't be that hard to schedule around the Badgers, and with all the college kids downtown. I'd even be all in for taking it to coliseum. do a few improvement here and there but I think everyone around here can admit they've had a great time at the coliseum at least once. Plus it has the history with Bob Johnson and all the National Champ teams there. You might be able to add sky boxes at the very top, to try and supplement the low seat numbers. You just get more season ticket holders.
